Sticking to your goals is one of things we as humans struggle with most. We have an idea that pops in our head, we start planning and prepping for it and then BOOM… 3 weeks later we’re back to square one.
We’re stuck asking…
why can’t i stay on track?
why can’t i stay on my diet?
why can’t i lose weight?
why can’t i gain weight?
why can’t i stick to my goals?
With lots more examples.. You get the big picture.
Wether you’re wondering how to stick to your new years resolution or how to work towards your goals.. Having a dedicated plan each week will keep you on track by holding yourself accountable and keeping the new habits you set for yourself, going.
I’m giving you four of my own personal steps that I use to make sure I achieve the personal growth goals that Iβm chasing.
This post is all about sticking to your goals.
Step #1: Plan Your Week with a Weekly Planner
Although this sounds super simple, itβs something we tend to overlook or push out of the way in our prioritization checklists. Planning is the ultimate preparation to follow through on how to stay committed to your goals.
Every single Sunday, I sit down and plan out the week ahead.
Some may see it as tedious. Me?
I see it as being prepared, ready to tackle my week and the most organized way to achieve my biggest goals.
I schedule everything that I have to do from blog posts, to the emails I write, my work schedule, meal prepping and daily workouts. Y’all literally everything I do from the time I open my eyes in the morning, until I fall asleep at night, goes on a daily schedule.
It’s imperative to stay organized when you have this much stuff planned out for yourself.
When it comes to digital organization, like Iβve mentioned in previous blog posts, I use Google Calendar to prioritize my weekly schedule and keep everything organized. These calendars are color coordinated, they neatly lay ontop of each other and I can even see each task or item laid out on a widget in the home screen on my phone.
I can’t just rely on my computer and phone if I’m sticking to my goals, though..
I also use a paper calendar and planner that I can take with me everywhere I go. Yes, I literally have four. They’re all for different things. I have a yearly calendar which breaks down in months and days, a blank calendar for my ideas and an instagram and blog idea calendar planner.
Shop similar yearly planners or topic specific planners here.
Can you see how planning, while yes takes time, is SOOOO crucial and beneficial to being successful in sticking to your goals?! That’s why I made it the very first step in learning how to master your goals!
Step #2: Give Yourself Daily “To-Do” Goals
Iβm a type A person, so having a list that I can check off makes me feel so accomplished. Organizing a weekly schedule down into a daily to-do checklist is so appealing to personalities like mine. I know exactly what I need to do each day and I can check off the task after itβs complete.
To keep my goals in check, I use this systems to organize my daily workouts and nutrition. This allows me to give every bit of my effort to maximize what I have planned out for my goals.
Having a system set up like this, kind of goes in line with the thought process of breaking down big goals into smaller goals.
When you take something big and break it down smaller, it’s easier to achieve.
Therefore, when you take a whole day’s worth of ideas, or “to do”s in your head and put them on paper in a checklist form– you’ve connected with your mind that it’s now a much easier task to get done.
It seems much less overwhelming and you’re more likely to get it accomplished.
Step #3: Prioritize Your Big Target
I love fitness. There’s no doubt about that, we all know it. But when my biggest goal is to become the most fit version of myself, my day is going to revolve around that.
And friend, that’s what you MUST do, in order for you to achieve your goal.
When sticking to your goals, you have to make them your biggest priority. Numero uno.
As you can see below, my entire day revolves around hitting my goal. It’s the way I’ve trained my brain to think and my body follows. When you make these habits become a daily thing, it will become easier. You become better and you become stronger.
I encourage you to sit down and think about what your goal is.
Are you currently prioritizing it where it SHOULD be, in your day?
Does your day surround itself around your goal? If not, take some time to reconsider how your days are planned!
I guarantee you’ll start hitting your goal more steadily.
Step #4: Realizing Hitting Goals Take Time
I set a goal for myself a the beginning of the year to become the fittest version of myself by summer. Why did I make such a time span in between? Because, I knew from January, it would take ATLEAST six months to get there.
This is my four week check in.
Only four weeks. There some small changes.
Is it easy to give up? Heck yeah. You bust your butt day in and day out on workouts and nutrition. You want to see change happen soooo much faster than it does, but guess what friend?
It just doesn’t happen like that!!
It’s going to take me continuing to show up day after day.
Waking up early every morning, hitting my workouts hard, drinking my Phormula 1 protein shakes, taking my Microfactor and Full Mega daily packet and NEVER. GIVING. UP.
My leg muscle size is going to increase because I ave been focusing on growing my quads my glutes.
But I have noticed that by using my Opti-Greens 50 every single morning, my bloating has tremendously gone down. I looked for a “greens” supplement for years that actually worked for my bloating and this is by far the best thing I could ever recommend.
Our gut health plays a huge role in how we feel in our overall health. Now that my inflammation is reduced by using the Opti-Greens 50, I don’t feel uncomfortable and my energy is balanced with the glycemic balancing blend in it.
If you’ve been looking for a greens soltution, I highly highly recommend it. From my own word of mouth and these four week progress pictures.
Sticking to Your Goals Will Equal Long Term Success
All things worth having take time, patience and all of your energy. Know friend, that by taking your time and putting in the necessary prioritization needed– that you’ll come out on the better end of the deal.
I know you want to be at the end of the tunnel today but the success will be WELL worth the wait!
Use these tips and don’t forget to be patient.
xoxo,
MEGAN KELSEY
